I wanted this post to be about gratitude for chocolate, but since I can’t eat chocolate anymore because it makes me phlegmy (is that a word?), I will talk about change. I used to hate it. I wanted everything to remain the same, but without change, life would be oh so boring. And I would be oh so miserable. For example, I used to weigh 183 pounds. Now, 130. If that hadn't changed, I'd be extremely overweight and unhealthy. And I wouldn't be having so much fun with new clothes. If I hadn't broken my ankle in 7 places back in 2006, I wouldn't be singing with Sugartime. If I hadn't moved to Albuquerque to heal from a painful divorce, I wouldn't be married to my wonderful hubby. Sooo, today I am extremely grateful for change. How about you?
Blessings,
karen

I embrace change and I don't feel uncomfortable with it!
Change is good in alot of ways. We evolve with change. BUT the change that is happening in the country I am not very welcome to that mainly because I don't feel all warm and cozy. :) Great topic
Awesome topic. I'm sad that you can't eat chocolate, but I guess I'll just have to eat some for you! And congrats on losing that weight! I'm on a weight loss journey now and it's going fairly well. Even when the change is bad, I think something good will always come from it!
Amen! I think this is the key to happiness when you can look at life this way. I agree. If it wasn't for my Dystonia...I wouldn't have started my photography business or writing.
Yep! Isn't it funny how we can look back and see how things (sometimes insignificant in themselves) forever change the direction in our lives?
Claudia, you're a lucky lady.
Gossipgirl, thank you
Cheyanne, yes, the good may not be visible right away, but it usually does follow
Tracy Jo, that's a tough one - you're one amazing lady
Laura, yeah, it is.

Hi Karen .. absolutely the right word - isn't it a wonderful one - phlegmy .. I love chocolate though in small doses ...
Change - I'm very willing to embrace change - and in fact rather like it around .. it keeps me on my toes and gives that B for Brain something for C to Cogitate over ...
You've achieved so much .. and those changes have obviously made a lot of difference to your life ..
Cheers - Hilary
Change is growth. And don't worry, I eat enough chocolate for the two of us. :)
I like change when I'm controlling it!
:)
Wonderful things to be grateful for!

Hilary, great, you got the challenge into your comment as well.
LG, you go girl!
Heather, yeah, controlling it - good luck with that!

Change is a sign that you are alive. Sometimes I like change, other times, not so much.
Phlegmy better be a word. I use it all the time. Milk does it to me.
I think change is good. Not always easy, but good.
Hi Karen, nice to meet you. I love change. I don't always like it, but it is always good.
Oh dear, you've made me re-wind and re-think. I can't stand to go through change.... I get weepy and sad. BUT.... you are so right.... when I look back.... all the changes brought improvements and a brighter life. It's just the transition that gets me down (like rainy days and mondays)
Thanks lovely lady ....
You've definitely shown us the positive aspects of change, Karen. All the changes you made, and what happened to you along the way, have certainly been for your good. Hooray for you!

I've had a life of learning to adapt to changes so I'm okay with a lot of change. Some changes I don't like though, especially as I get older.

There's much good in change. Sometimes it takes us (me) awhile to find it. :) Congrats on the weight loss. My daughter has lost 83 pounds and loving the new clothes too! I admire you (and her) for being able to make THAT change!
That's such a great attitude. I HATE change, but I'll try to think of it in positive terms like you have. Awesome post and happy A-Z blogging.
They say the only constant is change, although I don't know who "they" are are why they keeping talking to me. But nevertheless, I embrace change, both in the figurative sense and whenever I need to break a $20. Plus, I have a 9-month-old, so I'd better embrace change or I'll have it thrust upon me unwillingly over and over and over over the next few years.
While I don't care for change, I've had a lifetime filled with it so my mantra is...It is what it is...and I truly say that a lot!
Great C word today!
Change is good! I like change. I used to rearrange my bedroom as a kid every other month. I'd do that to my house now but my husband would kill me.
Change can be good but it can also be really hard. Thank you for the reminder.
Yes! Embrace change. I need to make a change like you did with the weight. Wow. Good for you. Did it have something to do with the chocolate problem?

I need gradual changes. Brain can't handle the abrupt ones.
I don't mind change. Good things can come out of it. :)
Jess, congrats to your daughter. That's awesome
S.L., I'm still learning to embrace it.
Nate, with a nine-month old, you're absolutely right - nothing but changes ahead.
Tracy, so true
Diane, I love re-arranging, too, but my hubby just rolls his eyes
Taryn, yes, it can be hard
Mary, no weight loss and chocolate issue are two separate things.
Alex, it's harder when change comes abruptly, like a sudden illness or death.
The Golden Eagle, yes, it often does
Karen
Change is good when it comes at the right time. Sometimes we have to encourage it.
Dropping by from the A-Z Challenge, nice to meet you.
Love this one. I was afraid of change for a long time and I finally realized change was actually what I needed! So interesting that you ended up in Sugartime because of a broken ankle. We never know where life is going to lead us, that's for sure.
That's a wonderful thing to be grateful for, and how great you can see the positive in things :)

Change is good! Being stalemated is never good for anyone :)
I agree. It's difficult in the moment, but many changes bring good things. Maybe we gain strength from suffering.
Well, I AM grateful for chocolate, and cookies and coffee and crystals and cotton... that's a pretty good list.
Great post Karen. Change used to be really difficult for me too, but like you...when I look back on all of the great things which change has brought me it's impossible not to be grateful for it. Nowadays I welcome change which is something that the me of ten years ago would not have believed.
I have always been afraid of and worried about the unknown, and change always means the unknown is coming your way. Despite that, I've made many leaps of faith and can see now how Change has given me a much more interesting and beautiful life. So I am approaching our upcoming adventure in a whole new way - understanding that nothing keeps you "safe" - not trying to keep things the same, that's for sure! I understand now that change brings new people and places and experiences that I wouldn't miss for the world.
Wow - your life has really changed for the happier. Lovely.
I love change as well. It makes life interesting.
Hi Karen -- I've also found change usually works out for the best, even when it seems to be all wrong at first. And then there's A to Z...it changes a little every year, always for the better. It's so good to reconnect with good friends.

Change is difficult for me, but usually no choice. Being a military spouse, I have found it a difficult life. But, it hasn't been Dull...
Nicely said and I'm happy for you~
Great attitude :D
I love what you wrote about "change".
I hate change-- hope I develop your attitude as the years move on.

Change is great. I'm glad you've had positive changes in your life.
Good for you!!! I'm in the process of trying to get slimmer. Easter doesn't help though....
The changes you made obviously took great amounts of determination and courage. Excellent!
