“A”
Despite the political woes, economic fluctuations, sociological issues, and whatever else is plaguing us these days, it is a blessing to live in America. I have the freedom to do whatever I choose to do, as long as I don’t break any laws. I have the freedom to practice whatever religion I choose, even if others don’t agree with my religious beliefs. I have so many privileges that are not in the realm of possibility for folks in some other countries. So “A” is for America and I am very grateful we won our independence from Great Britain.
Blessings,
Karen

Hey, Karen, I got this one on my FB. Yay! I am grateful for all those things, too, and for my family of folkdancers in this great city, and for a certain Zebra who likes to blog.

Gratitude is a great theme indeed, and your first post does it justice! Looking forward for the next entries!
That's a great thing to be grateful for.
Hey Simona, thanks so much
Claudia, I need to remind myself to be grateful, so it's a bit of a selfish theme as well.
Ruth, thanks
Karen
Great Britain isn't so bad, hehe! :) Seriously, though, I think it's easy to forget how much we do have and how wonderful it is to live in a free and stable country. That was brought home to me first-hand when I was in Cairo last January.
Talli, I love Great Britain. I just don't believe in colonization.

Hi Karen .. it's just great to be free and enjoy our life - luckily the Brits swapped some spice islands with the Dutch for New York .. or you might have been Dutch, or French, or Spanish .. or ...
We're just lucky to live in democratic societies as you mention ..
I too am very grateful for all we have .. cheers Hilary
What a wonderful theme, Karen. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

Great theme! I'm grateful that you are sharing your gratitude and looking forward to reading more. And 'A' is for Australia too!
I'm proud to be British....lol but I love the US which Ive visited often. Great post for the challenge.
Yvonne.
Amen, Karen! :) What a great post.
Hi Karen! Yes, we do have so much to be thankful for, don't we?
Great theme and great start. All I have to say is AMEN.
Well said.
We have our ups and downs but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Great job.

Great theme! I feel the same way about Canada. So glad we live in a part of the free world.
I feel the same about Canada, just like Jemi. I like knowing I can go home (from Mexico) to Canada.
It's true... I sure wouldn't want to live anywhere else, not at the moment.
Great A post, Karen. I have gratitude for the life I lead, it might not be in America, but still, I am lucky.
You are lucky Karen, America is often sorely missed in my universe. Great topic for the challenge :)
I love it! I am going the same route with my theme...positive words. :-) Looking forward to reading your posts!
Oh, what a wonderful theme for the Challenge! Gratitude is something I need to remind myself of more often, I have a lot to be grateful for and sometimes it is easy to forget that. I am looking forward to your posts!
Hilary, it's interesting to imagine what it might have been like if things had turned out differently.
Jenny, thanks, yes, it's the most fun thing about the challenge, seeing what everyone comes up with
Kylie, yeah for Australia
Yvonne, I love Britain
Liz, thanks
Laura, we sure do!
Susan, Amen
Heather, neither would I
Jemi, yes, I remember when many young Americans went to Canada and some of us still think about it occasionally
Clarissa, nice to feel good about "home."
Bish, sometimes I do, but it never lasts very long
Glynis, you live in such a beautiful spot, how could you not?
Siv, I've yet to visit where you live'
Tracy Jo, yeah for positive words
Julie, I forget as well, which is my selfish reason for choosing this theme.

The U.S. of A. is not perfect but it's an awesome place to live.

I'm an Americanphile (yikes - is that correct?) so I agree with you. Also I live in Portugal so I can sympathize with you about not liking colonization. See you on the A-Z!
Awesome thing to be thankful for. applaud your choice.
Gratitude is one of my favorite words. Just when I think I've added up all my "gratitude's" another one pops up and says, "Hey, what about me?"
Yeah as much crap is there is that is going on, it is something to be grateful for, as many can't say such a thing.
JournalingWoman, you are so right - far from perfect - but we can hope, can't we?
Susan, yes
Mary, thanks
Karen

Karen, what a great post. It was a good reminder of all the things we have to be thankful for as Americans...there are a lot of them. Thanks for that! :)
Oh, Karen, I love this post. Despite everything, I am deeply grateful to live here, too. You make me feel like waving a flag!
Thanks so much for this.
I'm grateful too. Great post.
People forget that we have so many freedoms here not found anywhere else in the world.
What an awesome theme!
I'm missing America at the moment. Having a fuel shortage/crisis here in UK. Several stations out of fuel. Scary, since we're driving through a foreign country.
I love your theme! And I too am very grateful that even with all our problems, I'm an American. :)
Tracy, I wrote it as a reminder for me more than anything else.
Suze, go right ahead!
Susan, thank you
Diane, I'm one of those who forgets sometimes.
Dawn, thank you
L.G, oh I'll be thinking about you and hoping you have enough gas!
Kristi, thanks, me, too.
Karen
I'm also proud to be an American.

I adore your theme of Gratitude. It made me realise that I've not written in my gratitude journal for a while... thanks for the reminder! :)
Great post Karen. It's nice to be patriotic. I guess my A would be for Australia where I think we enjoy even more freedom.
Thanks for visiting and reading about Ann. She is one delightful American.
Denise
I like your appreciation for America. I feel the same way. Sometimes I worry that people take our freedoms for granted, so we all need to be vigilant in protecting the rights we've been given.
Wonderful to see people appreciating the things in their life.

What a great theme for the challenge! I too am grateful for America and being a citizen...
Gratitude is one of the major things the world needs more of. This is a great topic, Karen. And A for America is perfect, as this country was founded on gratitude - the pilgrims having given us the first Thanksgiving right next door to where Jen and I live!

Thanks for the kind comment on my blog, Karen. I'm finding some great themes out there as I start making the rounds. The A to Z challenge makes April so much fun.
