Monday Musings: Letting Go

Change is inevitable. Accepting that is one of the most challenging things we have to do as humans. I am kind of adventurous in spirit, so I kind of like change. When it's my choice. When it isn't, ah, that is much more difficult to deal with. I have learned, though, that having a philosophical attitude about it helps. A lot. Like don't resist the change. Accept it. It makes it easier, even if it's a hard change. Then I like to open myself up to whatever new possibilities there might be as a result of the change. For example, when the one singer decided to leave Sugartime, I felt bereft. But now, I notice I am feeling much lighter in spirit because I am not as worried about singing a wrong note. And that has made me actually sing better!

Good post Karen, I handle it the same as you. At first I mope around but once I accept the change, it always turns out it is for the better.

My life is chaos on a daily basis. So change it just a part of that.

I don't really like change, but I think I handle it pretty well. I've done many more things - lived in more places, explored more than I ever imagined. Sometimes it's been challenging (like traveling all last year in the RV), but I'm proud to have done what I've done. I think I am more adventurous than I give myself credit!Hope you are well!

I think about what I need to do for some time and then face the change with determination. Once I've accepted that it needs to change, the action is easier. I like the saying, 'Bend like bamboo before the wind.' The stiff branch will snap.

Yvonne, I know. I don't mean to imply it's always good or easy. I'm just saying that if you fight what actually is, it makes it harder than it needs to be. There is still pain, though.
Manzanita, yes, it's all in our attitude about it.
Diane, then you learn to get used to it.

I'm like you...I enjoy changing things on my terms. Don't like it when something I don't want gets pushed on me. :P I tend to fight it at first.

I handle most change fairly well, but certain things I try to fight against...until I remember that it will happen with or without my permission. Sometimes that just takes me longer than others.

I'm not a huge fan of change in general, but I manage to get over myself and go with the flow. Funniest was back when my husband wanted me to give up my old Apple IIE computer. I mean, it's all I knew at that time! I kinda fought kicking and screaming (not reeeeally) until a schoolteacher friend told me the Apple IIE that his special education students had been using in class was stolen. End of story.I gave him my computer and it turned out better all the way around.
