That morning I'd made a decision to donate all proceeds from the sale of "Still Me...After All These Years" to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The 50 people who attended were very generous. I sold all the books I'd brought. People didn't even want change, because the money was going to such a good cause. Best decision I ever made.

Well done Karen - that's such good news ... and Alzheimer's research is such an excellent cause ... so pleased for you. What a great turn out - that cake looks delicious! Brilliant news - cheers Hilary
Hilary, not Alzheimer's research - I'm donating proceeds to Parkinson's research. But thank you!
Such a wonderful idea, Karen, and an excellent way to have your words seen by more eyes as well. Michael J. Fox is Canadian and comes from the Vancouver area. He's always been a hero for us in Canada. He was born in Edmonton, Alberta but settled in Burnaby BC, a suburb of Vancouver.
I applaud your generosity! Well done.
Glad your launch went well. And awesome that you are donating to Parkinson's research. I didn't hear the story, but heard a headline on the news that they may have found a drug to help slow the progression of this disease.
D.G, thanks - he's an amazing human being and I'm so grateful he's doing what he's dong to find a cure.
Natalie - hmmm, had'nt heard that - have to check into it. Thank you.
That's SO sweet!!! I think it was a great decision. That makes my heart feel all warm.
Thanks, Stephanie.Mine, too!
Definitely a great project and a great cause. Congratulations on the success of your anthology, Karen.
thank you, Murees. I appreciate that.
Bravo! Congrats on all the sales and what a wonderful charity to donate the proceeds to. :) Sounds like it was a success!

Congratulations on a successful launch! I look forward to reading your book.
Congratulations. Wish I could have been there to share it with you.
Just a note - on Saturday, our church was having their annual talent show. Since I can't sing or dance, I read my story from Still Me. A lot of people came up afterwards to ask where they could get the book.
That's awesome, LD. Thanks so much for doing that.
Wonderful decision, Karen. It's a good cause too. A few year ago one of my dear friends took his own life after suffering for a number of years with Parkinson's. Speculation was that the drugs he was taking probably had a big influence on his decision to do what he did, but I don't guess I'll ever really know.
